Chapter 01

Work that does not get an off switch

Some of what we build never touches a house. Airport installations and expansions. Water treatment plants. Distribution facilities. Emergency back-up generator systems and the wiring behind advanced automatic transfer switch, or ATS, systems. High voltage distribution and power distribution at a scale most residential or light commercial jobs never see. None of it looks like the panel swap or the outlet a homeowner calls about, and none of it forgives a shortcut.

It is also the work that says the most about a small shop out of Muskogee. We are a company able to master projects people normally think only a large contractor can take on, and this is where that gets tested: on a dam deck, or inside a plant that keeps running the whole time we are in it.

Conduit that has to outlast the concrete

Infrastructure work sits in weather and near water more than it sits indoors. A spillway deck runs out over a lake. A water treatment plant runs wet process areas year round. That changes the material choice before it changes anything else: rigid conduit, racked properly to the structure it is fastened to, not strapped in wherever there happens to be room.

Racking is easy to underrate from a photograph. Done right, every run stays inspectable, sheds water instead of trapping it, and does not become the thing that fails years after the concrete around it is still sound. That standard does not change whether the conduit is banked under a spillway bridge deck or feeding a panel at a distribution facility.

Chapter 03

Gate hoists, controls, and working over water

The Eufaula spillway work put us wiring gate hoist power and controls on a bridge deck with a gantry crane running the length of it and a lake underneath. That is a different job site than a slab and a stud wall. Access is the walkway itself, the crew works it in hi-vis the whole time, and a dropped tool or a bad connection carries a different cost when the drop is into open water.

It is also a job where the electrical scope answers to someone else's structure first. A gate hoist has to move when it is told to move. Getting reliable power and controls to it, on a deck we did not build, is the actual work, more than any single conduit run.

Working inside a schedule we do not set

A plant, a treatment facility or a dam does not stop running because an electrical contractor is on site. The civil contractor sets the sequence, the outage windows are theirs to grant, and our crew works the openings we are given rather than the ones we would prefer. That is as true at a distribution facility as it was at Eufaula.

It is the same principle Dennis has run the company on since 2007: one point of contact, accuracy in the bid so change orders do not pile up later, and a schedule that holds. On a spillway or a plant floor, that principle is the only thing keeping the work honest, because nobody on that site has the luxury of coming back later to fix a scope that was guessed at instead of bid properly the first time.
